What's a Feminine Interior?

Dear blogfriends,

Do you remember the Dude Design Week?

A girl friend of mine (Hi, Anna!) commented that she loved this apartment and said that "she must be a dude then!" and asked me "What's a feminine interior then?".

Of course, you can be a girl and love straight lines, leather and navy! Actually, I do think that it is best to mix feminine elements with masculine elements.

However, I sometimes dream of a very girly boudoir-like apartment filled only with stuff my boyfriend would hate!

Just like this very chic and glamorous apartment :

Tufted ottoman and huge mirrors with romantic ornament.

Hi lovely settee! My boyfriend would hate you because you can't really watch a movie sitting on you. But you're perfect for tea time with cupcakes!

Oh!Marble counter top and brass silverware!

Fur on chairs, of course.

I actually don't think I could live in such a girly space, but I still think it is very chic!

A Touch of Black

Dear blogfriends,

I am sorry for the lack of posts lately. I kind of had the flu last week.
We also worked a lot on home projects.. I'll post some sneak peeks this week.

I read some times ago that a room always need a touch of black to look finished (I am pretty sure it was  Holly Becker from Decor8)

I was very surprised but I think it's so true. Especially for Scandinavian interiors.
Black adds the right contrast and glamour to the space.

Hollywood Regency Week : Glam It Up With X-Benches

Hello!

Hollywood Regency loves seating areas and loves upholstering.
X-benches are a very easy and small-space-friendly way to glam up your interior (it provides also convenient occasional seating space).

Here are a few examples...

  • Under a vanity :

This room is soooo Hollywood Regency : the fur rug, the mirror vanity, the tufting, the very sophisticated window treatment...

  • As coffee table (very small-space-friendly) :

(The Greek key is very Hollywood Regency too)

These were very traditional interiors, but X-benches work perfectly in more modern and minimalistic interiors.
I love for instance the python X-benches in Jen Ramos' new apartment (the girl behind Madebygirl)!

I think she has exquisite taste and I love her modern interpretation of the Hollywood Regency Style.
She uses Hollywood Regency elements in a very contemporary way : animal prints, the Greek key, the tufted sofa (that sofa!!!), the contrasts (blacks and whites) and the textures (lucite, leather, velvet, fur).

It's perfect!

This painting is hers (see her art shop here). She creates the most beautiful palettes.

Favorite Rooms Ever

I don't have very stable tastes and what I like depends very much on the season, how I feel etc...

When I feel overwhelmed, I love decluttered, white, scandinavian interiors ;
When I am feeling depressed, I love color- and paternfull Holywood glam interiors ;
When I get sick of overplayed contemporary minimalistic interiors, I love mid-century classic design...

Sometimes I just want white from floor to ceiling, sometimes I need bold and colorfull accent.

This i why I am always hesitating and regretting my choices.

But, when I look at my pinterest boards, I realize that I have some unvariable favorites :

- light and crisp, not too cluttered, feminine rooms,
- with a pastel-white color palette
- silver-chrome accent
- beautifull materials like cristal, wood and leather
- and slight vintage vibes.

Those are all times favorites :
