Bedroom Moodboard : Organic Modern Style?

Dear blogfriends,

It's time to give a direction for our bedroom.

I love scandinavian interiors, but for the bedroom I wanted something quiet, but with more character, intimaty and some masculine vibes.

Some kind of West Elm look, mainly organic modern.

Here is the inspiration :

West Elm has great bedroom furniture, but as far as I know, there is no West Elm Store oversee... So I looked... at Ikea! I really want to avoid Ikea (we already have so much Ikea elements in our house!!), but there isn't many sources for affordable new furniture as far as I know (and I really want something new at least for boxspring, headboard and rug).

We looked for some upholstered bed but I was really out of our price range (except this offer, but I don't really like the upholstery options). So, so far, we stuck with the idea of buying the boxspring and headboard at Ikea and the matras at a specialist).

We already own the beside tables, which is what I dislike the most in the moodboard. I would like to change them someday for vintage danish beside tables. But for the moment, that's fine.

We also already own the curtains and the frame.

The headboard is BEKKESTUA. The rug is from former awesome Stockholm collection and the modern sconces are for the new PS collection.

I think it's a good start.

In My Pinterest Right Now

Dear blogfriends,

I hope you're having - wherever you are - a nice summer time!

I have 15 days off from Friday and I can't wait!!! The first week will be dedicated to some home projects and relaxing time at my parent's house and we'll spend the second week with my sister in law's family in Britany, France!

In the meanwhile, I am refinnishing my terrasse floor (more about that tomorrow) and procrastinating on pinterest.

Here what's I'm considering :

1. Cute stationnary organizer :

I found one at Anthropologie. Should I order it??

3. New DIY project?

Patterns Week : Polka Dots

Polka dots....

I'm a big big fan of polka dots for clothes, but I think they can be very cheesy for home decor.
However, in some case, they can be very sexy!

You probably remember this room :

Oh yes! The amazing Serena's bedroom in gossip girl. I don't find the reference anymore, but I read the huge headboard was a DIY of the stage decorator. It was actually pretty cheap.

So yes, polka dots, even for home decor can be sexy! For example :

1. Ikat polka dots

Ikat is an Indonesian dyeing technique used to pattern textiles, a bit similar to tie-dye. I think you can find Ikats in Thailand, so I hope I'll find some.

Madeline Weinrib has a very stunning collection.

2. Dwell Studio polka dots

They are the coolest graphic pattern ever, aren't they?

Adorable!

I miss my baby...

Feng Shui Tips for a cozy Bedroom + Inspiration

The bedroom is a very important place in Feng Shui. A bedroom should "promote an harmonious flow of nourishing and sensual energy".

My boyfriend and I tend toward insomnia, so I am very concerned about making this place as serene and comfy as possible.

Here is a little memo :

  1. VERY IMPORTANT : Keep electronics and home office away from the bedroom. TV in the bedroom is a Feng Shui red flag
  2. Keep it simple: prefer built-in closet to wardrobe, try not to overload your bedroom with furniture and decor items
  3. Symetry is important in an master bedroom : you need access to both sides, have a night stand in both sides
  4. A good bed, obvi
  5. It's better to have the bed not facing the door (to much energy coming towards the bed)
  6. But it's good to see the door from your bed
  7. A nice headboard is a plus (uphostered or tuffed is even better!)
  8. A rug can be nice
  9. Good lightings

I selected a few exemples, I hope you like them!
