Pantone Color of the Year 2013

A few days ago, Pantone elected Monaco blue as Color for Fashion for 2013.
But yesterday, Pantone revealed THE Color of the Year 2013!

And the winner is...

Emerald Green

This color was in my predictions short list. I like it as an accent color, combined with (Monaco?) blue.

I am sure Dorothy Draper's fan will also be pleased since it is included in her palette, with lots of pink shades.

How do you feel about that choice?

Pops of Pink!

Hello,

I was thinking yesterday that our living room was a feeling a bit drab with the winter light.
I liked it during the summer but I think it's too cold for the winter time.
Too many cold neutrals.

Hot pink or fushia has always been a favorite color with orange (or tangerine!) to dynamize a room.
Like in the palette below :

Vitamines! Yes!

I could not feel depressed in that room!

Color Week : Different colors / Different stylings

While I like weird color combos in picture, I usually prefer to play it safe with color in my own house. Especially because I love to change all the time.

You don't have to paint your walls in yellow to add some color in your house. Some accessories can add color to a neutral room and make a huge impact. They can easily be swiched if you want to create a new styling.

Last week, Jannice demonstrated it very nicely here. She styled her neutral living room in three different ways, using three different colors :

Soft grey...

blue...

and beige...

Very nicely done Jannice!

Here is my selection to style your house in the color palette I proposed yesterday :

1. Very lovely lamp (already spotted here)  - Zara Home
2. Plaid - Zara Home
3, 4 & 10. Cushions - Zara Home
5. Jar - Muuto
6. Knitted basket - Ferm Living
7. Vase - Ikea
8. Caddles - Ikea
9. Candle holder - Muuto

Color Week : Alternative Color Palette for Fall

We all agree that fall is the season for color.

You may want to bring this wonderfull color palette at home.

The vignettes in this traditional autumn color palette might be cute, but often meh... I think it should be kept for small vignettes...

or outdoor vignettes.

Otherwise, you can get a bit to "haloweeny".

Today, I propose an alternative color palette that brings home this wonderfull atmosfeer and fall soft hues: soft pink, purple, camel, orange and brown and grey.

Look at those beautiful interiors. Wouldn't you nap in that sofa or in this room during the sunny indian summer?

Or drink hot cocoa here, wraped in a plaid during colder evenings?

What do you think?

Edit : If you'd like to check, Made by a Girl proposes an other (wilder) alternative here and The Style Files proposes an other selection of soft pink and grey interiors here.
